How to Create an Email Account

cPanel makes it easy to create and manage email accounts for your domain. This guide walks you through creating a new email address, setting a mailbox quota, and accessing your email.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.

  2. From the Email section, click Email Accounts.


Step 2: Create a New Email Account

  1. Click the Create button.

  2. Select the domain where you want to create the email account (if multiple domains are available).

  3. Enter the following information:

    • Username – The part of the email address before the "@" symbol.

    • Password – Create a strong password or click Generate to have cPanel create one for you.

    • Confirm Password (if prompted).


Step 3: Configure Additional Settings

Depending on your cPanel version, you may have additional options such as:

Storage Space

Choose one of the following:

  • Unlimited

  • Specify a mailbox storage quota (for example, 1024 MB)

Optional Settings

You may also be able to configure:

  • Send a welcome email with setup instructions

  • Stay on the current page after creating the account

After reviewing the settings, click Create.


Step 4: Verify the Email Account

Once the account has been created, it will appear in the Email Accounts list.

You can click on the manage button to:

  • Check mailbox storage usage

  • Change the password

  • Update the mailbox quota

  • Suspend or unsuspend the account

  • Delete the account

  • Access Webmail

  • Connect devices using an email client


Accessing Your Email

There are several ways to access your mailbox.

Option 1: Webmail

  1. In Email Accounts, locate your mailbox.

  2. Click Check Email.

  3. Choose your preferred webmail application if prompted.

You can also access Webmail directly by visiting:

https://yourdomain.com/webmail

Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.


Option 2: Email Client

You can configure your email account in applications such as:

  • Microsoft Outlook

  • Apple Mail

  • Mozilla Thunderbird

  • Mobile email apps (iPhone/Android)

Connection settings are available by clicking Connect Devices next to the email account in cPanel.


Managing an Existing Email Account

To manage an email account:

  1. Go to Email Accounts in cPanel.

  2. Locate the desired mailbox.

  3. Click Manage.

From the Manage page you can:

  • Change the password

  • Modify the mailbox storage quota

  • Configure restrictions (if available)

  • Manage authentication settings
